Charles Sandison, "Rage Love Hope Despair," 2004

At first I thought the title referred to the viewer's experience, but then I read the label and all was revealed: "In the engrossing work 'Rage Love Hope Despair,' algorihms punctuate the architectureal space with the emotional behaviours and moods of human beings as a new theme. . . . The words float around and, when they collide, generate other words (e.g. Man + Woman = Child). Each word possesses a colour code and its definition evolves as it collides with others. As a result, visitors become engagedin an emotional dialogue with the work that may enable them to understand their own behaviour."
